Two Kittens

Meet the Pair

♂️🐱

The Boy

Your little prince — Ragdoll males grow into magnificent, gentle giants who love nothing more than a lap to occupy.

♀️🐱

The Girl

Your little duchess — Ragdoll females are slightly more independent but just as affectionate, and endlessly elegant.

Growth Stages

What to Expect at Each Age

Ragdolls grow slowly compared to other breeds and don't reach full size until 3–4 years old. Here's what the journey looks like.

🐣

0 – 2 Weeks

Neonatal Stage

  • Eyes and ears completely sealed shut
  • 100% dependent on mother for warmth and feeding
  • Cannot regulate own body temperature
  • Sleep ~90% of the time
  • Already developing their unique scent bond with mum
👀

2 – 4 Weeks

Eyes Open & World Begins

  • Eyes open (all Ragdolls are born with blue eyes!)
  • Ears begin to unfold — first sounds register
  • Wobbly first steps start around week 3
  • Begin to interact with littermates
  • First tiny squeaks and meows
🎮

4 – 8 Weeks

Socialisation Begins

  • Weaning starts — solid food introduced
  • Play fighting with littermates teaches social cues
  • Litter box training begins naturally
  • Critical window for human socialisation (handling!)
  • Coat starts showing first colour points
🏡

8 – 12 Weeks

Almost Ready for Home

  • Fully weaned and eating solid kitten food
  • First vaccinations typically given
  • Personality clearly emerging
  • Ragdoll "floppiness" (limpness when held) appears
  • Most reputable breeders send kittens home at 12+ weeks
🎀

12 – 16 Weeks

Coming Home!

  • Fully vaccinated and microchipped
  • Ready to explore their new forever home
  • Keep them confined to one room initially to reduce stress
  • Introduce slowly to other pets
  • Expect a 1–2 day adjustment period — totally normal
🌱

4 – 6 Months

Adolescent Antics

  • Energy peaks — expect zoomies at 3am!
  • Teeth changing from baby to adult (provide chew toys)
  • Spay/neuter typically recommended around 4–6 months
  • Coat filling out — fluffier every week
  • Bonding deeply with their humans
🌸

6 – 12 Months

Settling In

  • Still very playful but calming slightly
  • Full adult teeth in place
  • Ragdoll temperament fully shining: gentle, calm, affectionate
  • Colour points deepening on face, ears, legs and tail
  • Begin establishing favourite napping spots (probably your lap)
🦁

1 – 3 Years

Young Adults

  • Physically mature but still filling out in bulk
  • Males can reach 15–20 lbs at full size
  • Females typically 10–15 lbs
  • Full coat achieved — gloriously silky and semi-long
  • "Dog-like" personality fully on display: follows you everywhere
👑

3 – 4 Years

Full Maturity

  • Ragdolls reach full size later than most breeds
  • Peak fluffiness and majestic mane achieved
  • Deeply bonded, calm and confident companions
  • Lifespan typically 12–17 years of love ahead

The Breed

Why Ragdolls Are Extra Special

Ragdolls are often described as "puppies in cat suits" — loyal, gentle giants who love their people unconditionally.

💙

Blue Eyes Always

Every true Ragdoll keeps their striking blue eyes for life — a defining characteristic of the breed.

🫠

The Famous Flop

Ragdolls go limp when picked up, like a ragdoll toy. This docile trait is what gave the breed its name.

🐕

Dog-like Loyalty

They greet you at the door, follow you room to room, and can even be taught to fetch and walk on a lead.

🔇

Soft-Spoken

Ragdolls have a quiet, sweet voice and rarely demand attention loudly — they prefer gentle nudges.

🧸

Gentle Giants

One of the largest domestic cat breeds, yet known for being exceptionally gentle — great with children.

💇

Surprisingly Low Maintenance

Despite their luxurious semi-long coat, Ragdolls have minimal undercoat and rarely mat — brush 2x a week.

🌡️

Indoor Cats

Ragdolls lack street-smarts and trust everyone — they thrive as indoor-only cats and live longer for it.

🤝

Great in Pairs

Two Ragdolls bond deeply with each other, keep each other entertained, and are less anxious when alone.
